About us

Leslie and I incorporated this business in 1999. By then, we had been making the Weeks Rocker for seven years, and custom construction, furniture, and woodwork for many more. The rocking chair was becoming the foundation of a business of a different sort — one focused on a line of a few products. Gary Weeks and Company, Furnituremakers, we called it. At the time, the "and Company" part of the name was largely hopeful.

That hope has manifested. Our son, Austin, has joined us, making a family business with the second generation. We have an organization with procedures beyond personalities. We work with people beyond estimation. One can organize procedure and production with lofty standards of quality, but it takes people of character to fulfill them.

Because this endeavor is greater than Gary Weeks, I have some regrets about that part of the name. But it is for sure right in this way: If it is not the very best we can do, I don't want my name on it.
